building a community

Hi
I am browsing around for a way to build my community and I was gretaly pleased when I found Drupal but I just have a few questions before I start to build the community with drupal.

1. I want one section of the site to be free for members and one section where one have to pay to get access to but with the same login, so the site needs to know wether the person looging in is a free member or a paid member and show the pages according to that, is that possible.

Ideation Platform

I am in charge of Innovation for a Corporate Innovation Lab and I am responsible to develop an Idea Management Platform.

Are there any modules available on Drupal that could be used for ideation?

The leading commercial idea management systems typically offer these features and capabilities:

Campaign focused: Organizations can set up specific "campaigns" or projects within the software, each one tailored to address a specific business objective -- such as reducing costs in a division, or coming up with new ideas for a particular product line. Focused ideation around specific business objectives tends to result in a larger number of high quality ideas.

Customizable forms for capturing ideas: Organizations can customize idea input forms by campaign or project to meet their specific needs.

Customizable evaluation criteria: Leading idea management systems also enable companies to create customized numeric scales for evaluating ideas for each campaign. This increases the likelihood that all ideas will be rated consistently.

Business Intranet Sites

I was wondering if Drupal would be a good solution for two sites that I am working on. The first is a site that I am about to create, and another is one that I already created and am thinking about transitioning to Drupal to take advantage of some of its features.

Upcoming Site
The first site is for a small company that does product testing. They have several customers, each with several products. All products must undergo several tests, and each test has certain equipment and personal requirements. Their main goal in the site is to be able to schedule who is using which equipment and when they are using it, to prevent resource conflicts. Also, if a manager schedules someone for a task/test, it needs to notify (they would prefer email) that they have been assigned that task and when it is.

Also, more long term, but they would like test result information to be input into the system and auto-generate forms/calculations for them.

I'm pretty sure its possible and not too hard, but am unsure of which modules I need. (I'm completely new and have only begun by reading documentation. 2, maybe 3 hours at this point). I think I will need CCK, but to be honest, am not even sure what it is or how it works yet, I've only seen it referenced a few times in documentation and on this forum.

e-commerce credit account?

Is is possible to setup a store that allows logged in users to buy stuff on an account that can then be settled at a later date?

If so, what modules would i use to achieve this?

A (not so) simple site for a research group

Hello.

This is my first post. First of all, sorry for my English mistakes.

I am new to Drupal. I've been using Joomla! in the past, and am still trying to learn and use MODxCMS. But also, I was thinking about giving Drupal a try. Then, I saw that the new version of Drupal has been recently released, and it looked quite promising to me.

I would like to tell you about the site I am planning to build, so that you can tell me if it is possible to have it done with a standard Drupal 6 installation.

It is the web site for the research group I belong to. The structure is quite simple, but there are some issues I want to check with you.

The structure of the site is as follows:

  • Main: Home page.
  • Members: A web page where you can find a link to each researcher's info page.
    • Researcher1's page: Basic info about Researcher1.
    • Researcher2's page: Basic info about Researcher2.
    • ...
  • Research: Research stuff related to the group. It is divided into two big areas.
    • Lines: A description of each of our research areas.
