Local Drupal Copy not working

I copied my existing Drupal installation to my local PC to use as an test server. I backed up the existing database and files , moved them over and changed the settings.php file to change my database username to root.

Now, when I load my drupal site on my local PC, it shows the first page but is all messed up. I see the following errors:

* warning: include_once(sites/all/modules/pathauto/pathauto_taxonomy.inc) [function.include-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\Program Files\Internet\Server\wamp\www\drupal\sites\all\modules\pathauto\pathauto.module on line 73.

Drupal 5.x or 6.x?

I'm new to Drupal.
I'm aiming to build a school website for Sept 2008.

To start with it needs:
- pages/books of static information (eg prospectus)
- forum
- download area with 50 categories for 1000 pdf documents
- teachers blogs with student comments
- teachers can start a book and students add material to them
- email between school departments and also other users
- interactive calendar
- duel languages for the static pages

Can I import a 4.7.X drupal site into a 6.X site?

I've been running a 4.7.x site for quite some time now and I would love to be able to start fresh from an application standpoint without losing my actual content. What I'm wondering is, can I set up a 6.X site then just import the data (Stories, ForumPosts, Images) from the old site?

Thanks in advance

don't want to lose 'must have' features

I think Drupal's fluid, organic perspective, based around blogs, comments and tagging, may be good for a school website, rather than the traditional 'forum/articles/news' format. I already have a website like this, but the students probably think of it as a resource repository rather than an interactive resource in itself.

I'd like to try the drupal approach, BUT I also need to keep the following features from the traditional 'model':

- graphical button-like nav menus, supporting drop-downs and expanding sub-menus
- static school prospectus pages
- download section (1000 pdfs within 50 categories)
- language switching (ie. whilst viewing an English article, pushing a button reveals the spanish version)
- a centralised gallery for all types of media
- a news-like section with several categories of news
- an fully featured, interactive calendar
- 'survey forms' which get filled in by parents and emailed to whoever set the form up
- self-subscription mailing lists for guests (they enter their email address, which is then verified)

can some kind soul guide me?

Very New to Drupal

I would like to start a very basic social networking website. The features I would like a user to have would include:
-Creating an account which can be updated with basic information (Name, location, etc.)
-Creating event
-Being able to join or RSVP to events
-Being able to upload photos to user accounts.

I am familiar with HTML and some PHP, but not sure if I will be able to use Drupal. Could I?
