Hey, all. I'm looking at viable options for a site redesign. It's for a small studio, a collective of writers and artists who are all friends, and I was thinking if I had a closed social networking system then it would make for an effective website. Each person would have their own portfolio, so to speak, where they'd host previous and upcoming work, post to their own blog, schedule events on their own calendar, etc. Think myspace but only for about 15 specific people. The front page would connect to all of these individuals and their "mini-sites," or profile pages or whatever they are.
I am building a scientific website about nuclear science. These are my requests from the site:
1. Articles system:
1.a. Allow articles to be posted in several categories.
1.b. File attachments (PDF mostly).
1.c. PDF articles (IE an abstract and a link to the PDF article).
2. Editor:
2.a. Latex-like formula editing (scientific site, etc) or better.
2.b. Preferably WYSIWYG.
2.c. Ability to add images to the text.
I've been amateurishly playing around with Drupal in both 5.x and 6.x to create a website. i've come to road block. I've been attempting to create a relatively simple website that has different categories (restaurants, hotels, Events, Attractions, Tour Guides) that is specific to a country (Bulgaria, don't ask). People can log on and edit and also contribute.
