I'm considering Drupal for a blog/FAQ/How-To site for a university office. I've downloaded and tested the program on my personal host and so on, and quite like it. The two immediate problem I see:
1. We currently do not have access to MySQL databases on the university network.
2. We do not particularly want it to be apparent that users are being shifted off of the university network to access these pages (otherwise I could just put it on my personal space, for example, and be done with it).
I'm switching to Drupal from a raw html-and-ftp website. The site is quite old, and has ~45 html pages of information. Out there on the internet there may be many deep links into our website. I'd like to preserve as much backward compatibility as possible by keeping the content at those URLs static (though I'd like to put them "into" drupal so that others can edit them).
I'm new to Drupal, I've been using Joomla for some time now.
I am working on a website that will be taking a technical book and converting it into a website. Because the website is going to be based around a book it will be structured like the book, in chapters and sub-chapters etc.
Ok so the question I have might appear strange however it is really important for us...
I have following requirement, I am not sure whether it is supported by drupal or not;
We want to create a site with CMS where I can install Drupal as a separate instance on one machine and I can publish the site on the different machine. I want to make sure that when we synchronize the servers, we synch only the website and not the CMS as well. Also want to know if there is any module available for drupal which can publish the site into HTML so site doesn't have to run through the CMS engine.
is it possible to use a plain HTML template without doing any conversion to drupal theme? I'm okay with losing the drupal functionality.
Just having drupal as a background but using it for nothing than serving that HTML template.
I builded a couple of sites with Joomla and need a good alternative now. I allready browsed
a bit through the module-area but couln't find the right one (there is a Joomla site I maybe
have to swich to drupal, but I'm not sure if the right modules are available).
So it would be great if someone can help me.
