I am a traditional wordpress user, however my new project requires a more flexible approach. My main concern is, I want to layer my application. Base layer being controlled by Drupal engine and my visible layer to the user have my own custom theme and design. The issue with wordpress is the themes for the most part somewhat had visual requirements (Sidebar somewhere etc etc). Are there any "aesthetic" design concerns i have to abide by when designing the PSD for drupal?
I am brand new to Drupal but reasonably experienced in PHP, mySQL and phpBB3. I can already see that Drupal has much to offer and I'd really appreciate some help to get me productive in the shortest time possible.
What I find most confusing is which modules I should be adding in (or enabling in version 6 core) to achieve the following functionality without having modules clashing or overlapping.
I am one of 3 people responsible for implementing a cms for a large national non profit. Our organization consists of ~30,000 members in ~900 sub organizations spread across the US.
I have a very rough plan at the moment and just looking at my options. Pretty much what I want to do is create an aesthetically pleasing site where people can upload say a story they wrote and other people can comment and rate the story for them. I would think this is possible with a CMS such as Drupal by using different permission levels for users. Would be great just to get some clarification. Another thing I need to consider is the implementation of a forum system. For instance when people sign in on the drupal site, there would be no need to sign in again on the forum.
I want to keep a Drupal blog while I travel. Some areas are expected to have patchy internet connectivity, so I anticipate doing a lot of content generation offline, perhaps many days at a time. My question is, what's the best way to create and save content locally, then upload when I have an internet connection? I have already experimented with local and remote Drupal installations, I just don't know much about uploading/updating/replacing the remote data easily.
