Hi guys, im currently in my final year at university. im using drupal in 1 module at the moment to make a e-shop. I was just wondering if drupal was a good and easy software to use to build a private messaging system? Its going to be a website where users can login and send private messages to each other. I was just wondering how i would go about creating..and if theres a database involved?

I am building a site on drupal 6 with numerous modules. It will be a small community site with events, forums, video, image galleries, blogs, etc.. I want to incorporate a crm (client relationship management) "back end" in to this. I am using a panels dashboard for the "back end" to track the clients profile info, (event appointment) node creation, comments, and communications.
A little back story just to level with everyone who attempts to answer my question. I am an intermediate XHTML/CSS web designer and am currently working on a website for a client of mine. Unfortunately, he was reluctant to divulge the extent of the work he needed done for this site. Originally, I was tasked to update his site (www.booksandbones.com) and port content over...or so I thought. Basically, he wants something close to an e-commerce site, but without the commerce for now.
Thanks for taking a moment and perhaps guiding me to a good decision.
I am tasked with designing and implementing a new website for my school. I need a CMS that will give me the following features:
1.Multiple users with different permissions: I need to have Administrators as well as teacher users. The teacher users need to be able to edit only their personal classroom page.
2.I need hidden pages that appear only when a user with the proper permissions is logged in, can access.
3.Discussion boards and such to use with number 2.
What I need to do is setup a site where it can be white label for different companies but provide the same functionality. - Can this be done?
Also the each user if they signup via Company ABC they should only be able to login via company ABC and not via Company 123. - Can this be done?
