Before you start

I am new to the CMS world and I want to get to know it but im not sure how to structure my directories in a way that makes it more streamed lined and not cluttered. I want to create a workspace that I can use to build and launch live sites as well as have have test sites that I can use to test upgrades.

I use a MacBook and I have downloaded the following:

1- Acquia devdesktop

2- XAMPP

I want to create a website that asks several questions (around 10-15, checkboxes) and then gives the users personalized recommendations based on their answers (and also capture their email and maybe other contact info).

The recommendations shown after the quiz will be complex (each of them depending on several answers) and long (several options, etc.), not just a simple phrase with the result of the quiz.

How I can achieve the following using Drupal 8.4.0:
1) The user will fill the registration form, which will include some basic info.
2) Once the user verifies his account, a USER PROFILE PAGE(this has to be a content type) will be created for him and he will be able to edit this page.
3) The user will not be able to create pages, he will be able to just edit this single page which has been created after the registration,
3) Every change he makes to this page, has to be reviewed from the admin before displayed to the live site.

I would like to create a multisite for different clubs. Each club would essentially have the same setup. A forum, a calendar, polling or survey abilities, private messaging. I think drupal would be perfect for this... My question is, is there a way to set up a "seed" site than then each new multisite could easily be built from. In other words, have a site configured and left virgin with the above mentioned modules, then use it as the template to create each new site? Also, I currently have a Drupal 8.4 multi site up and working... would Drupal 8 or 7 be more appropriate for what I need?

Doing some research for D8.4

I see on the project page for "ip2country 8.x-1.8", it says it's a stable release for D8.0.0, do you think this will work for D8.4 as well?

I want to build a website that will showcase hotels, motels, restaurants, bars, tourist locations, holiday spots and such hospitality places in my city. The site should be a guide for a tourist or anyone that wants to get a glance of hospitality and tourist places available in the city and the site will guide in making choice of best places to go because it will highlight the features of each place as to help a visitor decide which place is better to visit.
