Before you start

We are a community group and have a wordpress site which has approx over 1000 pages/post etc, it is a bit slow and we are looking at something a bit better and maybe a bit faster.

My question is we have clubs worldwide and have a map with pointers to the countries we have clubs in. When someone clicks a country it breaks it down to then show the regions in that country, we also have a find your nearest where visitors will enter their post code and it will show the nearest 5 clubs.  Is there any modules like this in Drupal?

I want to migrate a website from wordpress to drupal. 

Its uses blogposts and some posttypes that have foruns on it. Like a social network.

What king of modules you think I have to use?

I'm new in Drupal contribution, I 've searched for a section in this forum to post my questions but I have not find any thing.

I use Slack & IRC to get help from others, but I think it should be a section for people like me to put their questions and keep these questions archived for new contributors who will join after us, because the documentation is not enough for answering all new contributors thoughts.

We are evaluating Drupal to determine if it can be used as the technology upon which an enterprise intranet can be built.  An important requirement, is the ability to create sub-sections of the intranet, for various departments.  Each sub-section would require the ability to specify unique authoring permissions and potentially unique viewing permissions.  An example follows:

intranet– top level of intranet site, only those in the Corporate Communications security group have permissions to create, edit, delete content associated with this section of the site

Hello !

We are willing to use Drupal 8 and Commerce 2 to make our own marketplace. Do you think is possible ? Is Commerce 2 mature enought ?

We noticed that : when you order several products from several shops, you have to check out for each shop... Do you think it's possible to display the order for each shop but have ONE button to checkout wich will call a script that process all tje orders at once and use a system of paiement specialised in marketplace.
