I recently created a website using Django but found its permissions system too inflexible for my needs. It appears Drupal's is more flexible, but I'd like to confirm before I port my website over. What I need is to define lots of content types. Then:
I just installed Drupal to investigate whether it is viable for the website I'm building. I will have many content types whose fields include other content types. But I don't see this possibility when creating a new content type. Is it possible? If you are familiar with Django, I'm looking for something analogous to its ForeignKey field type.
I am an experienced PHP programmer and I know SQL. But I am a complete noob when it comes to Drupal. I have spent an hour or two browsing the getting started documents.
What me and a few friends are planning to do is this: (we know what we are getting in to and plan to spend years on this)
i developed with drupal in its very early versions. Now im starting again, being a bit cut down by the huge dimension drupal reached. Congratulations on that by the way.
I now want to create a website which is pretty dependant on where you are on the page.
You have 4 Major parts on that site.
A header, containing a image bar, whose image will be different on ANY "node"
A sidebar ( left ) menu which is static and leads through the major part of the site.
My son's school has asked me to get them up and running with a new website. They're currently using Joomla. The government webhost is Managed Internet Service on SunOS. Something I know nothing about. Additionally, they state "... some scripts require Safe mode OFF ... these scripts will not be able to run from your MIS webspace."
Am I out of luck, or is there a workaround to have Safe Mode on with Drupal 6 or 7?
7 preferably.
