Advice on setup/rollout - hybrid WIKI with structured data

Hi there,

I'm hoping someone can help me structure my appraoch correctly as I begin a fairly serious build.

I want to create a WIKI space where users can update certain content. Its a location based WIKI (i.e. the nodes have a geo long/lt setting). Inside a location node users can add information for that particular location, but this is structured data typically. So the workflow is:

1. I am a user and I can add a new location (I click "Add Location" button, I see easy page to add details in using Google map - fyi, already installed Gmap and it works well)

2. Once I add the location page, I can then choose from a number of Add buttons - for example, "Add Sailing Information" or "Add Advert" - when I click on these a form comes up that letrs me add this information. I click save and the data is added to a fixed widget/panel in the page depending on the data type I add.

3. It still works like a WIKI, in that next to the new panel I just created "Sailing Info" - that panel has an Edit link, and any logged in user can update and edit this information.

I am not completely lost here, but I am not 100% certain of best way to build...

- I know how Gmap works and this is great - lets me create a node that has long/lat in that can ten be displayed on a map, perfect

What's the difference between Groups and Organic Groups?

Hello,

I'm trying to build out a site and started to use Joomla and the Community Builder, Kunena "extras". But, I'm not having the best experience with it. One of the priorities for this site is the ability to allow groups to have their own space and tools, such as their own forum and message wall. I also need some Facebook functionality.

Image hosting site using Drupal?

I would like to create an image hosting/sharing site similar to imgur.com. Just a simple interface to upload images and then be taken to a page with information on embedding the uploaded image(s).

It would be nice to have the ability to drag and drop into the browser for uploads, and the ability to upload multiple files.

I would like this to be available for anonymous people, but perhaps have additional features for members or paid members such as lossless storage or increased image upload size.

Drupal 6 to Drupal 7

Hello,

I need some advice.
I'm starting to use Drupal in my sites.
At the moment I need to develop a multilingüal store site.

I can't do it using Drupal & because the Multilingüal and Commerce modules are still in developing stage. (afaik they will be ready around october/november)

Then my option is to develop the site using Drupal 6, but my question are:

1- Since I'm learning Drupal, how much of I learn of Drupal 6 will be useful to Drupal 7
2- How difficult is to update a Drupal 6 site to a Drupal 7 site

New Drupal site for comparing drink flavours

Drupal community!

I am working on a pet project which allows you to select on a flavour map where you think a drink is.

The behaviour I want for the flavour map (image) is the following:

1st Click: Enlarge in size
2nd Click: Mark image, Reduce in size

So far I have worked on the theme and some of the static content which has gone well. But I would like some advice on the best approach for the above chunk of functionality. Any help appreciated,

Thanks,
SuperBOB

Need some pointers to start developing a company intranet with dynamic data handling

Hi everyone,

Summer is ahead and that mean's I'll have some extra time to sink my teeth into a project that I've wanted to do for a very long time - namely creating a company intranet with focus on:

* dynamic query and reports

That is, we have lots of data on production and accounting and so far I have used MS Access to generate nice looking reports but I have since long realized that if I could make the data available on a company intranet then the users could help themeself by making their own selections (or input) and analyze the output (lists, reports, charts etc).

A specific example, I want to create a simple CRM (customer relation management) system where users can

1) Generate reports and lists based on a selection (hence, dynamic queries).
2) Preferably I want the lists / reports to be dynamic as well -- that is -- I would like the output to be "clickable" so that the user can add more data.

Example: From a form the user enters some criterias such as customer number, then select query "open invoices". A list is generated and the user wants to click on invoice number 4001 and write a comment (1:N relationship) such as "send a copy of invoice to the customer today").

Now, the BIG question -- where do I start?

Can I achieve all this just using Views2 and CCK (and some customized generic queries)?
