Before you start

Hi. Every one, I am New one here. And wants a small favor from all of members here. Actually I am a blogger and I am just fed up with Blogspot and want some change and that's why I am here. So please share your views that how Drupal is best one for me then any other CMS?

I have one site running Drupal 7 and I noticed that it is much easier to use than the Drupal 6 site that I have. This (Drupal 7) site is going to be used for podcasting and webcasting. I am still trying to figure out how to embed the podcasts and videos I create using the Media module in Drupal 7.

I'm looking for some feedback please....

I have used Wordpress and Joomla and find them both to be quite intuitive (or at the very least, easy to figure out). I have some programming experience in CSS, HTML, and Javascript. While I'm not a PHP programmer, I can read and understand much of it.

However Drupal seems more like a toy for developers to play with or for job security for web developers.
"I know, I'll create the site in Drupal and this way the company will need me to maintain it.". OK, the last comment might have been a bit out of line.

With any project, I'd much rather spend my time creating what I need rather than learning the tool. Especially when there are other, easier to use tools.

For example, I created my home page in (using Drupal 7) but half of the content is hidden because of the "Read more" annoyance. I searched this forum and found many others in the same boat. I also found a dozen or so "fixes", none of them worked or were worth breaking the Drupal best practices of "no hacking the core" or "no hardcoding".

I also figured that if i hit this snag so early in the design process, what's going to happen when I want to things like add custom fields to a Contact Us form? Is that going to also require hard coding as well?

hi i have big Quastion and maybe i live in lala land but i wanna know is it possible create BPM Or ERP or E-Orgonaization by drupal or is it possible create Office Automation by drupal and if it's possible how can i do it and which modules can help me?

Hi everyone. I am a php application programmer. I used to make apps in plain php. I am now assigned to automate our library. Can i use Drupal 6 to do this? If yes, how do i customize the search/results function in it to match the user requirements. Thanks a lot.

By the way i am also new in I.T. industry i've just graduated last year, so i am asking for your patience in answering this question.

I've decided to take on Drupal ... yesterday(!), therefore I'm at the installation level. I have experience with other CMSs and I would like to get a reliable link to a recent multisite installation guide/tutorial of Drupal for the 7.x version. I'm using Eclipse locally, my Apache 2.2 web server pointing to a virtual server already set-up in the workspace. I'm then uploading the sites to a shared hosted server where I can play with both virtual servers (subdomains) and main domain's subfolders.
