I'm wanting to get started using Drupal but I have a bunch of questions...

Hi everyone,

This is my 1st post and I am looking forward to getting started with Drupal but I'd also like to make known that I am also a fairly novice webmaster so I'll be armed with a nice array of questions over the coming months. ;)

First of all, I'm on a host known as "SBI" or AKA "Site Sell" and they have this host specific UGC program with very little customization options and I'm wanting to move my site to another host where this will no longer work and I need a replacement.

Here's what I've got: http://www.your-adrenaline-fix.com/user-maintenance.html#INV

Here come's the questions:

Is there something within Drupal that could replace this form's functionality? I've seen this: http://parenting.stackexchange.com/questions I like it very much and I'm looking forward to using this for this page of my site. but I was wondering if I can lay this functionality onto my existing site's pages and if there is something that may suit my visitors better.

If I'm going to be using Drupal, Had I better know my way around PHP Real Well, Pretty Well or it's not necessary?? (I know very little PHP and am working on trying to learn it)

I would be most appreciative if anyone could take the time to answer these questions as I am looking forward to getting started implementing Drupal's seemingly fantastic functionality on my site.

I Thank You All in Advance,

Hosting Courses

Hello,
I am very new to Drupal..hoping someone can help.

We plan on using Drupal to host an online course. Course will contain some video, PDF's. Can this be done with Drupal? The student will purchase the course, receive a username/password and take the course.

Can anyone point me in a direction to get some instructions or documentation on how to achieve this?

Thank you!

D6.25: Warnings when updating the database

Hi.

Today I update a site from D6.24 to 6.25 and some other modules. When I ran the update of the database, I noticed these warning messages:

warning: array_merge() [function.array-merge]: Argument #2 is not an array in /home/mysite/public_html/update.php on line 173.
warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/mysite/public_html/update.php on line 337.

The update was realized and the website works perfectly, but i like to register this.

Tks

Choosing a version: what's the go with v7.8?

Hi everyone,

I am in the throws of choosing a drupal version. Here are my needs...

I used to develop websites in PHP a while back. I developed an XML framework mainly so it was easy to build a site with XSL templates. I've been doing photography for a couple of years, but now I'm back, and I have a few web projects I'd like to tackle. I don't want to have to build them from scratch - particularly since making an admin interface is so much work.

I started off with wordpress because I liked their admin GUI. I was planning on simply creating content with WP, and then making my own XML/XSL front-end by reading the database directly... that is until I found out how shit their database was. Seriously, I cannot believe that app is so popular. It backends onto a pile-o-poo.

Anyway, I am impatient and in a hurry, so without EXTENSIVE research, I remember from the old days that drupal was solid. I'm yet to check out the DB backend, but I am sure it is solid. It's probably likely that I will still drive my own frontend with my framework, but that may be a matter of using drupal's XML APIs rather than hacking the database directly. It's more likely to be a hybrid I'm guessing.

Simple event signup and PayPal payment module for Drupal 7...

I am looking for a simple easy-to-use event/course signup and PayPal payment module (pay for event/course) for Drupal 7.

Uebercart is not being developed for Drupal 7 as are some of the signup modules. Other signup modules do not integrate PayPal payment.

Any quick tips appreciated. Thanks in advance.
