Before you start

Can anyone list examples of large drupal community sites? By large I mean 450,000 visitors per month or more. By community site, I mean sites that have a large user population that log into the site and interacts with other members on a daily basis.

The ones I know about so far are:

I'm looking for a Drupal (or other CMS) solution that will easily track individuals from the time they first contact our college all the way through to Alumni status - The end goal being to create a full profile history on each student we interact with.

wannt to build a website using Drupal7 for software download,

we upload the software to the website and users go that site to download , How to achieve it use Drupal7

My story:
I want a file handle system.

The idea is to have a group named company and every group (companyA ,companyB etc) can create a user(1 or more).

That user can see only the files of the company created that user.

For example i create a companyA and after i register a user account(userA) to companyA i want that only userA to see the files inside companyA and only that files.

Files(under 1mb ,like pdf txt jpg)
A user can upload/download/delete a file.

Hi, I want to install a subdomain based drupal multisite, but the root domain should be a custom HTML site I developed. So it'll be like :

www.example.com : Custom HTML site I developed
sub1.example.com, sub2.example.com, sub3.example.com, sub4.example.com : Drupal multisite

I haven't really come across a way to do this. Any ideas ?
