Drupal for non-coders

Hello everyone,

I have been asked to develop a membership website for a local non-profit for whom I volunteer, and based on the features they want their site to have, I can tell that Drupal will be a much better platform than Wordpress. I do well with WP using Thesis 2.0, and with the support of their forums, but I don't actually know how to code. I know a little html, almost no CSS and absolutely no PHP.

What modules are necessary and recommended for building a outsourcing website like Freelancer.com in Drupal

I am new in learning Drupal and want to build a outsourcing site with similar functionality as the famous Freelancer.com. I wonder any professionals in the community can give me some advises that what key modules that is necessary for building such a website. I appreciate your help.

Thanks,

Drupal for academic library FAQ?

Hello,

We are a small academic library looking to add a more dynamic FAQ platform to our website, something like PhpMyFAQ. It needs to be easy for the librarians and users to use, mobile friendly, searchable, allow users to rate answers and tag, include statistics tracking and customization options.

Would drupal be applicable for this type of project? We are not necessarily wanting to replace the website as a whole, which is why I was unsure if drupal would be a good fit for us.

Thanks for your help!

Image manipulation to fit display size while maintaining aspect ratio, completeness and without scaling

Hi,

I am looking to show user uploaded images in three display formats: small, medium and slideshow. The display sizes are fixed but have constraints on:

1. Maintaining aspect ratio
2. Showing complete image; no cropping or scaling

Basically the image has to be centered in the display box and have to fill rest with a light gray background. Drupal imagecache actions module seems to offer this functionality (background...) and am going to try it.

Meanwhile, would welcome any suggestions on other modules or approaches to meet this requirement.

Suggestions for News/Events Setup?

Hi everyone,

Im going to be setting up a regional news/events/resources feature on a D7 site. Basically you'd have /topic/region1 /topic/region2 etc and each region page would pull in content (nodes) that had been posted in various categories/content-types to "blocks" on the page. I was thinking of using views and panels to achieve this. Does that sound the simplest way?

There would likely be at 100-150 regional pages mostly with the blocks linking to nodes under headings like 'events', 'training courses', 'open days', 'news items'.
