Build Software by Drupal

Is it possible to build Custom Software by Drupal? Like - Finance Software, Product management, Billing, Job/Resume Recruiter Management, Event Management, Official Database Management, Employee Management, Supplier Management etc.

Does anyone build any software with Drupal?

Store user records

Hello friends,

I am trying to create a website for cafeteria management. The users will login and order through the site and the bill will get added to his pending bills and shown as 'amount to be paid'. Now the requirement is that the user (and the manager) should be able to see a list of all his previous orders and his pending bills. Can anyone guide me as to how it can be done (is there any specific module for this) ?

Till now what I have is that I can display the menu and the user can order and gets the bill. I have used the ubercart module for this.

Parallel Development & Subversion Control

Hey,
We're just getting started looking into Drupal as a viable option for our office, and we have this one scenario that has to be accounted for before we can go ahead with any CMS. If this is not a good venue for this, please let me know where is!

The big concern that we have is parallel development. Consider this scenario:

Has anyone used StormOnDemand VPS?

I would just like to know your opinion on LiquidWeb Storm On Demand VPS (hosting.)

Have you used that company or know someone who has? Are their VPS adequate for running Drupal? Do you run Drupal on virtual private servers, if so, have you had any issues or forsee any issues?

I would really appreciate it if comments were related to VPS or specifically Storm On Demand services. Thank you.

Skills and adaptability of developer?

I may be getting involved in a new partnership. One partner has web development skills. He is presently converting an old Volusion product-based website into a WOO Fusion themed website.

I am currently involved with a service-oriented web site. This site desperately needs to be revamped. Here are the skills listed by the old developer:

  • Information Technology Enabling/Integration (e.g. SAP <--> 3rd Party Products).
  • Development and enhancement of e-commerce websites using Cold Fusion, ASP/Dot-Net, JQuery & other coding with various backend Databases (e.g. MS SQL Server 2010)
  • Custom application creation using various development platforms and languages.
  • Online survey creation and results reporting
  • Microsoft SQL Server DBA and assistance

I am also interested in developing web sites for accounting and legal professionals. My hope is that a Crowdsourcing project that I am passionate about will be an integral part of these themed web sites.

My question is how transferable are his skills and how adaptable should I expect this new developer, whom I have not yet met, to be? Are their major differences between WOO Fusion (Wordpress?) and Drupal Commerce?

Drupal site that allows users library functionality

Hey guys, excuse me if this has already been answered somewhere but I have been unable to find it. I am in the beginning stages of creating my first drupal site and I am wondering if the kind of functionality I am looking for is possible using drupal and/or if there is a collection of modules that will easily help me achieve it.

What I am looking to create is a subscription based stock photo site that will allow my users to login and create their own personal library of photos based on my stock photo collection. Ideally, the site would have the functionality of a standard stock photo site where the navigation / categories are listed on the left. On my site this category list would be mirrored on the right of the page as a folder structure, and users could navigate using the left menu to find photos they liked, then drag and drop them into their personal library on the right category/folder structure.

I have no idea what kind of module/s I would use to achieve this or if it is even possible.

Eventually it would also be helpful if the users could pull each category list out as pop-out windows or even a separate desktop application so they could arrange windows to their liking and have more room for browsing photos...but this isn't 100% necessary at launch.
