Before you start

I'm used to programming a CMS in an admin directory and connecting the front end to the database manually. I'm looking at Drupal and wondering where I should install it- the httpdocs directory or the admin directory? Is it intended to exist in it's own directory?

What I'm going to be doing with it is creating content manageable sites for different companies. I want to limit the visible elements of the admin to only what they need.

Is Drupal going to work for me?

I would like to learn all about drupal. so where is the right place to start work? tell me the step by step process to start learning drupal.

How to store set of values in select list, that can be editable in future? Field (select list) not allowing it presently and saying can't change the value as its been already in use.

Can we store and call values from taxonomy...?

Curious about your experience and how it's working out.

Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

Will this work with a hosted version of sugar professional?

or is this strictly utilizing the CE version installed with Drupal?

After working on Drupal since few years, i have thought of suggesting Drupal to my colleague for sorting his Travel issues and managing tonnes of papers and endless signatures.

His need is pretty simple of creating a travel process from user creating travel request form, form goes to user line manager for approval, once approve it goes to HR director, and after it get approved from both boss's it comes to my colleague and he will send request to listed travel agents (emails) for issuing / sorting his ticket by external means.
