Before you start

Wanted to know that the Drupal is prefered tool for a CMS + e-commerce enterprise level portal development? Please help me on this to make the correct decision.

I am very eager to use drupal commerce to

1) set up a large marketplace ( many sellers selling their own product on my site )
2) and large number of products too (say over 10k to 20K)

Will drupal commerce be able to handle this vast requirement? Or would I need to look at other options?

In drupal content types are fixed pieces. Title goes on top, first paragraph in italic, image width 300x200px right aligned with byline underneath... etc etc and all articles of that content type are the same.

I would like to give my editors more freedom in layouting their stories. Depending on the assets they have at their disposal. For example two review content-type articles might look different because one has video-footage, hi-res art and a comparison box while the other incorporates some tweets and some quotes.

I want to build a website using Drupal.

The website's once real functionality is Stock control - a checkIn/checkOut system using a barcode scanner.

The scenario is that we have a storeroom full of devices with barcodes on them and we would like to check them out to staff and then check them back into the storeroom?

Can anyone advise me?
