Hello everyone, this is Hektor Konomi. I am new to this community. I am a management post graduate. I am planning to launch a website for management students which will contain study materials, tips, etc.... I tried with wordpress free blog but not satisfied with that. Now I want to ask you all will it be better to use drupal to create this website or anything else. Please suggest me by your precious answers.

I need to put a calendar in my site where users, previus registration, can add a date but with some restrictions:
1. registration of the user (no problem here!)
2. users can see free hours where to put a date but, for privacy issues, can't see the name and descriptions of other dates
3. if a user add a date, this must be validated by an administrator user to be published in the public calendar
4. every time a user adds a date, administrators must be notified of this action via email (I think this is not a problem with workflow and/or rules modules)

Forgive me Drupal community for my newbie-ness...I'm a retired statistician with database experience that has found himself the new IT guy for a small business that has just lost the current IT guy who is almost finished with a new revision of the company website using Drupal 7.

Before I even learn drupal and get myself up to speed I need some help with hardware. I'm old enough to know how submit programs in batch and write JCL - but hung up those hats long ago. I even gave up my old gateway laptop (which lasted forever) for a Macbook.

I have some plans to develop a wepage and im wondering if drupal might be the right tool for it. The website should help people find cafees in my city. The site should allow users to register new cafees and write reviews for cafees. Users should be able to search for cafees based on price class, rating, location, type etc. All registration of new cafees must be moderated.

Do you think drupal is a good choise for this kind of website?
Do you know of anyone that have done something like this in Drupal
