Hello all - I'm new to the forums and to Drupal in general. At this point, I've merely been reading about Drupal on this site and on the CMS Matrix web site and I'm trying to determine if it can do some of the things I'd like with a new web site project.
What I'd like to include on the site are the following:
Regular articles from multiple authors
Blog
Forums
Fee-based Web Site Directory, with searchability (where users can submit their topic-specific web site for review/acceptance)
Fee-based Classified Ads section
Allow indivisual users to create polls for EACH article or page. (preferably allow me as the admin to limit the flexibility a user has, ie, limited number of poll questions, all polls must use radio buttons, all polls must let all visitors vote etc.) Also, poll results showing indivisual user names who voted(not required but desired)… and of course, limiting votes to 1 per ip or cookies
Banner ads / adsense ads can automatically be placed on thousands or millions of pages in a template system (ala myspace) without having to place code manually on each page.
This question has probably been asked before, but I've very concerned about Drupal's Ajax forms. They're nice but it's enabled by default. New users with old browser (not that old) will not be able to use Drupal. Is there a way to disable Ajax? Is there a way for users to set their own preference? If not I think I'll be head back to 4.6 for a bit. It's really going to be a problem for our sites to migrate to drupal. On Kubuntu (Breezy Badger) Mozilla Firefox 1.0.8 doesn't play with the forms. Mozilla 1.7 also doesn't play with the forms. Please help.
I have been asked to set up a blog for a disabled user - she uses a head mounted prong to tap away on the keyboard. She cannot use any voice activated tools either (because she cant speak very much).
She uses the TAB key a lot and has some software which allows her to select the alt/ctrl/shift keys as well.
She cannot use a mouse or arrow keys to control the kurser. Any type of input helpers that control the kurser are pretty much useless, she's tried them all, as this is something she has had to deal with all her life (not being able to use here hands).
I am completely new to Drupal, and I am not too familiar with web development either. To make a long story short, I'm basically trying to learn how to search engine optimize my current website after my web designer dumped me over a disagreement. I would like to add a spot in my current website to easily add fresh new content such as articles, news releases, or just about anything to build more content on my site. And at the same time, make it easy for me to alter the title and header tages. I was advised to use Drupal for this sort of thing. Here is my site:
