Community photo gallery site?

Can Drupal be used to create a site similar to Yahoo! Photos where you can register your own account and start adding albums to it? If yes, could you point me to an appropriate module, forum topic or any kind of resource that might be helpful?

I don't have any experience with drupal, and my web knowledge is limited to good understanding of xhtml/css. I also have some wordpress, textpattern, movable type and especially expression engine expreience.

Can someone like me be able to create a very simplified community photo gallery site with drupal?

Thanks

Can I use Drupal for this kind of site?

Hi,

I have read some threads and seen drupal has some cool functionalities. I am currently testing Joomla, which I like because it has a great aesthetic appeal. However, I think Drupal has some of the power that I am looking for, for my new site.

Please let me know if Drupal has the power to do this:

This is a funny version of an affiliate scheme.

I want two member groups - free and paid.
Paid members pay a monthly subscription or they get downgraded to free. (I will need to be notified if a paid member cancels to stop services off of drupal)

Any member can refer new members and is marked as the referrer.

So far I think I can do this using the ecommerce package and the referral package. The next bit I'm not so sure about....

I want paid members to have a credit account. If they refer new members, half the credit gets put into their account. If they refer 2 paid members, their paid membership is free. They can now stop payments. If they refer more than 2 paid members, I will pay them. Was that clear?

They should also be able to see if the members they have referred are paying or free so they know when they can safely stop payments.

Essentially it is an affiliate scheme for all members. They can join for free or paid, recruit new members, and get free services if they recruit at least 2 paying members. If they recruit more, I will pay them comission for their efforts every month.

Organic Groups question

Hello all!

I am designing a new turn-based online game and I was wondering if Drupal would suit my needs for building the community website for the game.

The game mechanics will be separate and I do not want to integrate into the CMS, but I need a CMS for management of the players' community. There are some things that are specific, and I think Drupal can manage it, but I'd like your opinion:

1. Each player will have its own blog - drupal can do this

2. Each player will have personal page, something like a dossier only they can edit - possible? - I figure I'd have to use a flexinode to structure the specific data, but can individual users edit only "their own" nodes?

3. There will be factions and I need something to allow factions to share information and discussion that is not visible to those who are not members of the faction - organic groups? - Some info will be public, like faction dossier (similar to player dossier, but somewhat different) or faction proclamations, but most of it is private like forum discussions and internal documents/news/announcements

4. Regarding the factions, the game allows faction members to be "private", ie. not publicly known as faction members, so that they can do undercover work. Can Organic Groups in Drupal do this? To have "hidden" members?

5. Each faction would have an admin that is responsible for accepting/inviting new members and banishing unwanted members. Can Organic Groups do this?
