Before you start

I am planning on creating a site for a student government and I had a couple questions before a select a developer:

Is it safe to have a designer create a site for drupal without drupal experience? Will I be able to implement that design afterwards?
If a designer develops a site for me how easy is it to convert it appropriately through the drupal community? What factors should i consider?

I want user created content and easy publishing.

Hey guys, this is my first post, well second actually as i posted in the wrong forum, and I am just about to embark on a drupal install.
I have an existing website that currently has no CMS and I have chosen Drupal. What I am wishing to do is install Drupal onto my site and rebuild the site from scratch taking virtually all of the content over but improving many things with the help of Drupal. Is it possible to set up few drupal sites on one share hosting mysql share hosting website?

Hi! I have an idea for a project that would partly involve a community-like website. I know roughly what I want, the question is just how to do it as easily as possible.

What the website needs:

• Swedish language (I'm prepared to translate things myself if it's needed, but it must have good support for Swedish characters such as å ä ö)
• A regular CMS for managing the website, including news articles (essentially a blog) and articles of more static nature (such as FAQ's etc)
• A good, clean, fast and easy-to-use forum that doesn't feel bloated (a good example of what I want would be Vanilla)
• The ability for users to start their own "teams". Each team automatically gets its own private/hidden forum section as well as a public group blog. A user must not be part of more than one team at the same time. Anyone can apply to be part of any team, but the initiator of each team decides who is allowed and who is not. There must be a maximum limit of say 15 members in each team. At a glance, "organic groups" seems to be a pretty good solution for this?

I'm plan to use drupal + e-commerce module to setup a shopping cart for my clients.
However the e-shop site need multi-language of the same product (name, description, and so on)

Does the Localizer module support creating multi-language content for e-commerce module ?

I have downloaded DRUPAL 5.X from drupal.org.
I have downloaded PHP 5.2.2 as requested
I have downloaded MYSQL 5.0.41 as requested

I have created a new folder where I will put everything of my site: www.mysite.com and I have copied into it
is that correct?
what can i do now?
