Pulling Blog Information To Another page

Ok, hear me out on this one. I want to do various blogs on one site and have the main page show off information on the latest blog posts. So, let's say the blog is at www.blog.com/music and I make a post, there will be an area on the front page that will be called "Music" showing off the latest posts in the music blog. Under there it will have the Title of the blog post and a blurb underneath saying what the entry is about. Next to this we want to have a small picture to accompany it.

WikiMedia Behind Drupal? Book Feature vs Wiki??

Hello!

I have been looking for a strong CMS to initially power a website I wish to develop for personal researching needs. I am a doctoral student in Instructional Technology, and I read a great deal as well as need a space for note taking.

What I wish to do, and why I seek this community of knowledgeable users, is to at first create a basic site using Drupal and password protect it for myself only. Then install a WikiMedia type environment behind the secured environment where I may log into my site from anywhere so that I can build collections of notes and referenced articles. At some point I intend to open up the security to include collaborative writing amongst fellow researchers. I am thinking of WikiMedia as a tool simply because it's an easy structure to quickly write within, but it is possible that the Book function within Drupal might be better, but I have no actual production experience with either WikiMedia or Books in Drupal.

So the question is initially technical: can a WikiMedia environment be installed within Drupal? And then, how would I go about doing it if it is possible?

The second question is: how does the Book feature in Drupal stack up against a WikiMedia approach?

Internal and external news

Hi to all!

I'd like to hear your opinion about using drupal to build my site.

The tasks to be done are those:

1) Allow registered user, to post news chosing for each one a category.

2) Have an rss feed for each category so that subscriber are updated each time a news is posted.

3) Add external feed as news source, assigning the right category using a sort of filter.

Single codebase multisite configuration

Hi,

I have configured multisites in single codebase. However each site has seperate admin and user login. I want to make it single admin and user login for all my sites which created under sites folder. I mean, one admin should control all the sites. Same as if the user register in one site, he can also login to all the sites with same user information.

Anyone have idea over this help me?

Thank you!

regards,

High Traffic Sites

This is a noob question but I have to ask. What is a "high traffic" site, as far a Drupal is concerned?

I am new to Drupal and see many references to the high traffic sites, but nobody really identifies what that means. Is it 100 users at a time? 1000? 1000000?

I use a shared host account like many people here. What situations should I be concerned with, if any? A link to some information or proper search terms would be great.

To drupal or not to drupal....

Well, I was recently given a task of rejuvinating -www.frumspace.com-

Although it currently has many features, Im planing to make it more web 2.0ish, Less ads, less news, More unique content.

How hard would it be to set up the following via drupal
1. External RSS feeds showing on main page
2. Forums like SMF
3. Live chat
4. Static pages
5. Recipie databse etc.
6. Latest forum/blog posts on main page

input appriciated.
