Drupal community: what would you want to see in 90 hour 3 course certificate in Drupal?

Hello,

I'm a Web Developer at the University of Washington and I was invited to participate in an advisory board for a new certificate program in Drupal the university is intending to offer.

We had a good first session last night talking about what this would look like, but I think it would be even more valuable to ask the community what they think a successful program would look like.

Here are some more details:

  • Certificate program consists of 3 courses.
  • Each course meets 10 times, once a week, for 3 hours
  • Our target audience would be web managers, web masters, designers, or developers who are interested in learning how to plan, design, and implement a site using the Drupal platform.
  • We would not be requiring previous design or coding experience, and we would not consider this a program FOR designers or developers.
  • We would like to cover content management concepts and IA principles
  • By the end of the certificate, a student should be able to install and configure Drupal, should be able to analyze requirements and research and select appropriate functionality already available through the community, implement, and maintain a Drupal site

That is a high level, and sounds like a good start.

Modules for content (documents) management and circulation

I'm attempting to create a document circulation site that will be used internally so different branches of the company may see what is going on and be able to respond with feedback in certain situations. Are there any good Drupal modules that could be used for this?

Thanks,
Stephen

Drupal fan seeking dependable developer

Can anybody recommend a seriously dependable Drupal developer that's reasonably priced?

I've talked to and worked with dozens of them... Either there seems to be a communication barrier, or they are a super expensive agency, or they are right here in the US at a great rate but can't hit a single deadline.

Not looking for advice here, just real solid references. Thanks in advance!!

E-Sport modules?

Just a fast question to these of you who are here much longer and have much more knowledge about Drupal's modules. Are there any modules that I could use for building a site for e-sport clan? Like roster, wars/matches and similiar stuff? Last time I checked I couldn't find much and tried searching for dedicated CMS for gaming clans, but I'm back at wondering if Drupal will be up to the task again ;)

How do you develop locally?

I'm curious as to how other developers do their local development? What are the/your best practices drupal-dev-wise? Are your methods fast and efficient enough? What platform is the best to develop from (Between Win and OSX only)?

I'm been using xampp and wamp the past 3 years myself.

Would love to hear from you guys.

Where should questions about use of this forum go?

For example, the instructions say, "Only images hosted on this site may be used in Only local images are allowed. tags. Others are replaced with an error icon". I would like to know how one loads an image to this site, so it can be referenced from a post to this forum.
