So I got this site dropped in my lap and I am trying my best to learn Drupal as I go. I am trying to edit information on the homepage. From what I gathered the default page is a feed of the other pages. Is there a way to keep the same layout but just edit the slides on the site and content on the bottom? The site is a customized theme.

I think there should be a forum dedicated to "What module?" type discussions. The Module Development prohibits this type of talk and says post these in Post Installation, but I really think Post Installation should be dedicated to support.

I am still developing new sites in D6. Every time I start a new site I ask myself if I should start using D7? The problem is that so many critical modules are still only stable in 6. I am dreading the day when I will have to start migrating legacy sites to D7. I started two simple sites with D7, but in both cases the clients added features (during the testing phase) that were simple using modules available only in D6. The most economical solution was to downgrade to D6 rather than find work-arounds or program a custom solution.

Now I have a question as the title referred,which module is suitable to realize real-time data displaying in block transfered from sensors?
I intend to build a new block used to display some sensor data at a real-time.
What do I need to do?
In my opinion,firstly, the data transfered from sensors should be stored in the database. Then Ajax is used to realize real-time display.

I haven't ever used the Drupal IRC and I haven't even been in a chatroom since I was a teenager. I decided to look at the Drupal IRC tonight and I notice when you click on my nickname it displays my IP address. When i click on other people it shows their "real name" and not their IP. So I'm wondering if a) it's just showing me mine because it's me who's looking and b) how do you set a real name etc? I wasn't presented with any options when I logged into the room.

BTW i was using webchat.freenode and not a program.

This handbook page says you should list all modules that will be enabled in the .info file.

Is this necessary since your MySQL will autoinstall the modules you have installed prior to saving your installation profile? I haven't seen it fail without it in the .info file.
