This quote is prominent on Drupal.org:-
It’s really the Drupal community and not so much the software that makes the Drupal project what it is. So fostering the Drupal community is actually more important than just managing the code base.
- Dries Buytaert
Yet despite the numbers of people, commitment and its success (?) I haven't found the community. Is it heresy to say that here? It would be ironic if it was!
I've found support on the forums, perhaps more than on other tech forums, but IF Drupal is also for non coders then surely that support is fundamental? The amount of support needed is directly proportional to the level of difficulties encountered via the UI, and the amount of work needed to provide that support is similarly proportional to the clarity of the UI and its integration with the underlying code which it directs.
I've eavesdropped conversations here, between people who seem to me to know, and even they struggle to explain the half a dozen basic Drupal terms. When you know, all becomes clear, until you reach that point you are a massive burden on the Forums. The challenge is to minimise the impact of this truism by providing tools with embedded clarity.
