I am working with a company currently looking to create a series of websites for an association and its members. We have been approached to take on the project, for which we would control the content for the websites and pull all the bits together, but hand the actual website creation out to another party.
After reviewing many agencies and ideas, we feel the easiest and quickest way would be to use an open source system like Drupal or Joomla (Drupal is my personal favourite as it is easy to use etc.). We are more than capable of the back end parts of Drupal such as installation, configuration, adding content etc. but not able to create themes.
Our present idea is to use a freelancer or small agency to design the themes and us install and enable them. However I was wondering if you, as the Drupal Community, would be able to give me some rough ideas on how long theme creation takes. The websites would be for corporate and medium-sized businesses, so fairly modern looking sites that look good, but nothing particularly special.
After reviewing the idea of editing themes available online to our customer's specifications (such as colours etc.) we feel it would be quicker to get a third party to create the themes from scratch.
I really appreciate your feedback as it will help our project move forwards.
