Drupal 7.x

Ok so I have now installed, what i need is a website which will display smaller websites for around 500 charities, how do i do this and is this possible? I want it for them to be able to upload content, events, listings, images, files, news, have there own discussions boards, media section, which can also be aggregated all into one place. How do i do this?

now i want to know what is the best way of doing this, the front page I want it to shwo a list of the different community organisations.Also any new activities they have uploaded.

Selecting which modules to use in Drupal is really an extremely difficult task. There is a wast amount of modules and it's hard to figure out which has the best features, which are updated often enough, which are of good quality etc.

This is probably something that has been asked before, but:

Joomla has "Most favoured", "Editor's pick", "Popular", "Best rated" modules, why don't we?

I'm very new to drupal. How do I make it to appear only login module in front (like wordpress backend screen) Nothing else... just one module.... so only authorized user can log in.

I am came to Drupal after looking round SMF wordpress Joomla etc.
Drupal seemed to offer what I needed at the time.
(I can say that from an outsiders point that Drupal takes a few months to master and some)
I was lucky and came to Drupal after 5 and came straight in at 6 so I had no issues with the 5/6 upgrade.
Drupal 6 is out and there are a couple of modules that I would like to use that are not yet ported to 6, and 7 will be out later this year.

I've been using SMF Simple Machines since 2004 and after 4+ years since the "first contact" SMF still amazes me with it's upgrading system. Everything happens from inside it's administration panel, you don't download and you don't ftp anything to the server. Tests are being run to prevent prossible errors (doesn't happen often) and in a matter of 5 clicks you are ready.

This works for the core system (SMF) and for all the addons!

A friend is helping me construct a web site.
Last month He downloaded Drupal as the site building program.
I need a lot more help than he's willing to give.
Here is my problem.
I added images that turned out bad, and decided to delete them. I thought I deleted them during the editing process. They show up again on the finished page, but they don't show up when I go back to edit them out..
Can anyone help me?
