Drupal user groups and "external" php script

Hello

I have made a small php/mysql system which are linked to from my drupal page. I was wonder if it is possible/difficult to make sure that only users/usergroups which are logged in to my page can access this php page. It is a complete stand alone project, which does not share any templates or anything with my drupal page.

I was thinking maybe checking some session variables in my php script, but I have not been able to figure out how. Any ideas/solutions?

Thanks,

Frank

Announcing Drupal's 2010 Summer of Code students

Drupal is excited to announce that we have 18 amazing projects in this year's Google Summer of Code. This is the sixth year that Drupal has participated in the program, bringing the total investment made by Google in Drupal through the SoC to over $450,000. This investment has resulted in numerous modules and core improvements, but more importantly it has brought in many long time contributors to the drupal project and helped keep numerous other contributors engaged and active in the community.

This year's Summer of Code projects focus on integrating Drupal with other APIs, improving and updating popular contributed modules, improving security, and helping to build new functionalities that will help keep Drupal at the cutting edge. Some of the projects still require co-mentors, and we'll be trying to connect these students with the community in a real world setting, so if you're interested in helping out with community bonding or code review, or even if you just want to keep tabs on the SoC progress, join us over at the Summer of Code group - it's not too late for you to help out!

Please help us in thanking Google for their support of Drupal and all Free & Open Source Software projects, and please welcome our Summer of Code 2010 Students.

iPhone app for Drupal Webmasters

Hey all,

I am currently building my iPhone development skills and I'd like to make my time as useful as possible. Since I'm apt enough at Drupal development I figured it'd be nice to combine both skills and do something useful for the Drupal community. Hence I'd like to run this idea across some fellow Drupaleers to make sure that I'm building something really worthwhile.

Case : As a developer I often end up being the webmaster of Drupal sites I set up. Being on the go a lot I get quite a number of mails with questions to add a user here and there, enable a page here or there, remove a comment or some other menial task. Even though people could just do that themselves in many cases, as a webmaster you still end up doing a lot of those things.

So far I've been either doing this at home or, when on the go, load the site on my iPhone's Safari browser and make my changes from there. The latter does the trick eventually, but loading an entire Drupal template onto my iPhone isn't always the best experience. The iPhone is nice for website consumption, but less for interactivity (at least if you're as impatient as I am). Not every Drupal website comes with a nice alternative mobile theme.

Multiple sites sharing modules and templates

Hi
I need to build a site in four different languages, running on different domains. (Possibly more languages in the future)
They all need to share the same functionality, modules and page templates, but with some differences in the stylesheets, and graphics.

The editors could either work from one login or log into each site separately, but I – as an administrator – would prefer to work from one single login.

Changing size of page posts on front page

Hello. I am working with the Zen theme and trying to make my first theme. What I am trying to do is have my post that I have Stick to the Top of my front page be normal size. Which it is right now. My issue I am trying to do involves making all the posts that are not "Stick to the Top" smaller. For instance here is my page http://nickmoyer.comze.com/ . I am trying to get the post entitled Whitehill to be about a quarter of the size that it is.

Would anybody know how to go about doing this?

Thank you in advance.

Artist's gallery page (need module similar to...)

I am looking for a module to display artwork that is similar to this type of look: 1) http://www.emilyhickmandesigns.com//hammer27.html, or 2) http://www.sydneyhopkins.com/gallery.html. I'd like to have numerous small thumbnails on one side and a large image next to these displaying whatever thumb is selected.

Also will need a module that displays a series of images that rotate (one image fades out and the next one fades in).
