Drupal 7 login issues

I just attempted an upgrade to Drupal 7, and am having issues trying to login.

Here is the page, which is stuck in maintenance mode:

davekahler.com

If you go to the login page:

davekahler.com/user

You can enter anything you want, and it doesn't respond to it. Just returns you to the login page. It does this even for valid accounts. What can I do to trace what is going on here?

Limit Node Reference to Nodes created by user

I'm fairly new to Drupal, so my apologies if this is covered somewhere and I'm just missing it, but here goes...

I'm trying to set up a node reference field, but want to limit the user's ability to only reference other nodes that they have created. I've figured out how to list the node reference field and how to select which content type of node they may select, but not sure how to limit that to just nodes of that content type and created by that user. Is this something that I can accomplish via Views? ...or is there something else I would need to do within the node reference?

Validate Drupal 7 password using Python

Hello,
I found version 3 of the script "phpass.py" over at http://www.openwall.com/phpass/, but I'm a little over my head. Has anyone converted this to test passwords created with Drupal 7 already?

I have a separate python service that authenticates users by reading the drupal users table. I want to validate a user login attempt through my python script.

I did change all the "md5" references to "sha512", but I can easily tell the length of the hashed password generated by the script is too short.

Confusing modules

For some weeks I have embarked on templating (gaming templates (ZENN) + profile) for Drupal 7. This is coming alone just fine, I must say the new templating is a dream for CSS junkies like me. However, while I already have the general template done I am now working my way down the standard modules to make sure the site works fine with the modules. Right now I am finetuning the Dashboard mod but I am confused about the following.

your dashboard

Hello

Here on Drupal.org I can see that after loggin I get new tab Your Dashboard. There are some blocks similar to iGoogle. How could I get someting similar on my site builded on D7? Is it standard dashboard module? Or something other?
