I'm working on a Mac but am interested in running a Ubuntu server via Vagrant, and would like to start contributing patches back to Drupal 7.
This has been an excellent project to learn from: https://drupal.org/project/vagrant, and I have easily gotten a similar scenario up and running, which has been great.
But I would like to check out Drupal 7 from Git so that I can work toward contributing patches.
Would like to copy my live website from the server and make the same on my local computer
What I did:
Installed XAMP and created a new database with same name as in live website
Imported the live website database to the localhost database using phpmyadmin
Cleared the cache, session and watchdog tables
Copied the contents of 'public_html' folder from the server and pasted all exactly to my XAMPP>HTDOCS folder with the name of the website, here in this kathakali.info
When I tried to access the localhost/xampp and localhost/phpmyadmin all OK
Fighting my way through Drupal install and Immediate upgrade.
I found some an upgrade post with some directions. I also found the readme.txt and just now the instal.txt. Slow on the draw on that latter one. Doh!
Anyway, that readme.txt sure is one ugly fellow!!! So, in trying to read it and follow it I edited it. Perhaps someone wants to edit it again and add it to the instal package. The one that is in there now is very very very ugly. ;)
I haven't done this in a while, so forgive my ignorance. I work with an old site written in Cold Fusion and running on xampp. Before installing drupal, I'd like to be sure that I'll be able to continue to edit the old site in Cold Fusion and work on new ones in drupal.
Any advice or help (this all is Greek to me, so talking down to me is very welcome).
I have a Drupal webshop ... version ...x i don't know .
The next problem i don't have the adminstrator login PW .
Can you help recover the settings of the site so i can use the site again?
