GData API

Project Description:

Create a GData API within Drupal. This API will generate syndication similar to the RSS and ATOM feeds but, will add functionality for queries, updates, optimistic concurrency (versioning), and authentication. This will enable outside clients to access information on a drupal site and modify it.

Drupal contains a lot of information that can be displayed in a very flexible format. The GData API will extend drupal as a framework to increase the flexibility

Motivation:

Creating sites that not only display information on the site but provide flexible feeds to queries and a means update drupal content is not easily accessable. The GData API would enable this making drupal usable for a larger variety of sites.

Success criteria:

The project will be a success if the GData API is fully integrated into Drupal.

Roadmap:

1. Install Drupal 4.7. Get acquainted with the structure of Drupal modules, hooks, and current XML features.
2. Study the Google Data APIs Protocol (GData API).
3. Develop a module enabling the GData API within Drupal.
