To help you develop and publish your social website, the Drupal Commons distribution uses a collection of included modules. These modules, provided by Acquia and the Drupal community (and by Drupal itself), provide a base level of integrated features that you can use as you develop your website.

Note: If the Drupal Commons distribution doesn't contain a module that you require, simply find and download the module from Drupal.org and install it on your website. For information about how to install a module, see Installing modules and themes.

Drupal core modules

Drupal Commons contains a group of Drupal 7 core modules that can be enabled or disabled, but not uninstalled. These modules provide the base level of functionality for your website, including the areas of content creation, display, and website administration.

Commons Follow (Groups) Provides Organic Groups integration for Commons Follow, allowing users to follow individual groups

Commons Images Enhances the display of images by making them responsive and intelligently cropping them where necessary
Commons KISSmetrics Integrates with KISSmetrics to track Commons-specific user metrics and actions
Commons Like Allows users to indicate that they like certain content and comments
Commons Location Provides a simple address field for reuse by various Commons content types
Commons Media Provides media handling capabilities
Commons Miscellaneous Configuration Includes various suggested bits of configuration for Commons sites
Commons Notices Provides a Notice content type for displaying administrative alerts to users, such as planned system maintenance
Commons Notify Provides a framework for allowing users to be notified when an event is triggered
Commons Pages Provides a Page content type for creating static content
Commons Polls Provides a Poll content type for conducting polls
Commons Posts Provides a Post content type for creating blog, article, or general status updates
