The Bicycle Transportation Alliance seeks a part-time volunteer to assist in the development of a new Bike Commute Challenge website. This site will leverage the open source Drupal content management system, which runs on a PHP/MySql platform. We are looking for a volunteer to develop the module(s) which will enable the core site features and to integrate them into the rest of the website. This project is guided by Lev Tsypin (of Level OS; www.levelos.com).
I'm happy to announce that Jeff was a featured guest on CreativeXpert, an audio podcast directed at designers and creatives.
I wanted to introduce Drupal to the design community but wanted to avoid wandering too deeply into The Nerd Forest. Jeff was the perfect guide, relating well to the designers out there. We talked about the fringe topics, but it should be great reference for the "So-What's-Drupallites".
I'm convinced that Drupal is AMAZING, and I trust other designers will also swing in for more than a sleep-over.
You are encouraged to visit the Akismet site to learn more about it. In just a few words, when new content is submitted to your site, the akismet module sends a real time request to Akismet where hundreds of tests are applied to get a thumbs up or thumbs down kind of response. It may finally that tell us if the content is spam or not. If it isn't, the content is published, if it is, then it is placed on the moderation queue. Moderators may opt-in to receive e-mail notifications for all content, just content needing approval or nothing at all. The module is fully customizable, almost everything is optional. It also keeps track of a counter that you can use to show your visitors how many spam has been caught by Akismet in your site.
I have also implemented a quite simple method to check for updates at certain intervals, which is customizable from the settings panel. It can also be disabled.

I was tired of the way CMSmatrix.org compares opensource CMS's so I set in to build a better comparison tool. There is now an Alpha version up and running at Comparison Matrix.
Feel free to give your ideas for comparison values while I am building the comparison list and cleaning things up. You may also have some ideas for catagories and while I would like the category list to be short , I will take an honest look at all suggestions.
