Need help migrating your site to Drupal?

Last time I ask before abandoning Drupal

I have spent almost four weeks now trying to get drupal to run how I need it to. I have spent almost $100 on books and asked questions on the forum - most of which have not been answered. I even posted in the paid help section to try and get help by paying for it but this has not worked out either.

In contrast I managed to get a Joomla site up and running to almost the same stage as the drupal site and this only took 3 days plus every question on the Joomla forums has been answered (except one). There is also a wealth of free and commercial plugins for Joomla whereas drupal seems to be less so.

I know it is like comparing apples and oranges but when rapid development is required I have to look at what I can achieve in as short a space of time as possible. I prefer not to give up on Drupal but I have reached the point where I am stuck and do not know the solution. So this is my last ditch plea for help before I ditch drupal and go with Joomla.

The Problem
I am pulling RSS feeds into my site for a jobs section and am using default aggregator. Inside the jobs section the feeds are being placed into categories. (Accountancy, Building etc). I need two things in order to proceed:

1) Instructions on how to use Views and Feedapi to build an A-Z sorter bar and also alphabetical sored teasers (so Accountancy comes before Building)

capabilities of drupal

Please excuse me because I am new to Drupal : ) Can I use drupal to develop a website which will have the a secure backend database which I can access, and others, to display the appropriate database information and also data such as text, images, video and sound? If so can someone point me to a good example and maybe a template. I know this is a bit vague but I would be extremely grateful if someone would assist?

blogger to drupal

Hi,
I want to migrate my blogger blogs to my Drupal site. I don't know how to migrate from blogger. Is there any script for this?

GWT (Google Web Toolkit) with Drupal 6 ?

I have GWT .js code that I want to put together with my Drupal 6 site. I basically want Drupal to take care of the user interface and access params and call the GWT code for each user. I know there was someone working on a module for 5.x (http://drupal.org/project/oagwt) but I haven't seen anything for 6.x . Does anyone know how I can accomplish this? Is there an in-built way to handle it now?

Thanks mucho!

So how geeky do I need to get?

I've been "romancing" the notion of converting to Drupal for quite some time - having built about 20 sites with Joomla, I've grown irritated with... well, Joomla. Kudos to the Joomla folks, but there's a point where Mickey Mousing everything starts to get in the way.

So I realize I must embrace the inner-geek to embrace Drupal.

But I can't become a full-time geek. I've got other things in my life that are more fun than making money developing websites. I'm not consumed with the web - it makes me a living, good for me. But I'd rather be playing guitar or writing a short story, etc.

So I've found some very cool tutorials - and it looks like I can make the rather sizable jump to Drupal - which I think will help me grow my company considerably, and also offer my clients much more flexibility, and even allow me to pull in clients that would otherwise be "off the charts".

But quite seriously - wtf is up with these updates? Every time I come here, there's a brand new version of Drupal. I mean - hats off to the developers, keeping it real, keeping it bleeding-edge, kicking everyone else's ass, makin' em all look like chumps cuz you are THE bad asses. If Clint Eastwood developed sites, he'd be all about Drupal.

However, if I'm the only guy in the shop, and I'm maintaining 20 odd sites - and I plan to get to like 100 sites and just chill...

Agregator

I am working on a new site www.agregator.us using Polisch CMS www.jaaz.pl and introducing new speach generator www.ivo.pl .

I thing that open source Drupal's CMS will be better solution.

Please contact me if you are able to provide tips and advices.
