Converting to Drupal

Hi all,

Sorry i am new to Drupal, but i like what i have seen of it so far, i run a Baby Rockers website which is built around wordpress but after spending hours reading through Drupal i am really keen to see Drupal instead, but am worried about losing data migrating or even having to start from scratch, so thanks in advance for any advice that would help me move my site as quick as possible so i don't lose any downtime.

Is there a migration tool ? would i be better off starting from scratch ? will google penalize me ?

I’m new to Drupal and am going to implement Drupal into my website in stages. First stage is to replace my news section with drupal. www.allbuyart.com/news.asp

I want www.allbuyart.com/news.asp to look the same once created in Drupal. I understand I need to mess about with the HTML and CSS of the theme, that shouldn’t be a problem.

I designed a website some years ago and have been adding pages to it ever since. It now has about 400 pages. (www.faith.org.uk)
Apart from the homepage, nearly all the other pages are based on one Dreamweaver 8 template. A large number of these pages are the same except for the main content area which only contains text.
How easy is it to convert to Drupal? Is this an easy process or will I have to add (copy/paste?) content manually?

I am a newbie to Drupal (one week experience) and have been asked to work on a site already created in Drupal. I made the site work on my machine (LAMP). However, when I go to http://localhost/website-directory, I don't see any place to work on the site .if I got to http://localhost/drupal-installation-directory, I can go to content management link and setup a website.

We are building a Non-Profit website in Drupal 6. Eventually this will be a template for many IGNITE Chapters worldwide. (http://www.ignite-us.org and http://www.igniteworldwide.org)

Do we use taxonomy or multi site in drupal 6? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? We intially anticipate 100-500 new chapters in 2009-2010 that will use this custom tempate for their IGNITE Chapter sites.

I`m fairly new to web design and I`m looking for some advice for the situation I`m in.

I currently have a Drupal site running that was built by a friend of my ex-girlfriend; it was a bad idea from the start on both fronts.

I`m wondering what I need to do; what information do I need to obtain &/or change on my site? I'm not too worried about anything malicious happening, but I'm wondering what I should do to take control/ownership of this site. It is owned by my company (essentially me) and I don't ever expect to have the original developer do any more work on the site, and I don't have a new developer lined up (nor can I really afford one).

The site runs fine. It's 6 or 8 pages. I have the ability to sign in on the back-end and add/manage content. I essentially built the site you see myself; the developer was the one that built the frame and takes care of the hosting (third party), and managed Drupal updates and small design issues that were over my head. Now I'm hoping that some people here can help guide me as I stumble my way to understanding Drupal.
