Web host for Drupal 5.1?

My current host, IX Web, does not support Drupal 5.1 and doesn't have plans to upgrade in the near future. Can anyone recommend a good host that does support 5.1?

Thank you.

VDS (virtual dedicated server) -- how much work is involved?

Hi All,

This is my first posting here, and I'd just like to say that drupal and the drupal community are both excellent!

I have been working on a drupal site for the last couple of months and except for some finishing touches, I'm ready to go live with the site soon.

Based on the postings in this forum and the kind of site that I am building, I think that a virtual dedicated server is the way to go, but before I choose to go down that path I have a few questions I'd really appreciate some feedback on:

1.) How much work is involved in setting up a VDS to get drupal up and running (I assume that the VDS has LAMP installed by default), and how much work is needed to maintain a VDS (patches, site and database backup, tuning/tweaking etc)?

2.) Since I'm already using godaddy for hosting now and I'm pretty happy with that, I thought that choosing one of their VDS plans (https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/hosting/virtual.asp?ci=9013&display=virtual) would be the easiest solution, but I'm willing to go elsewhere if that is not a good idea. I'm also open to using a shared hosting plan if any exist that has decent drupal performance, anywhere is acceptable as long as the cost is below $40 (USD) a month. Also, the hosting provider I choose should be able to easily scale up the server performance if needed (at additional cost of course).

Thanks in advance and cheers,

Drupal hosting at vpsFarm?

Does anyone have any experience with vpsFarm for drupal hosting?

http://www.vpsfarm.com/vpsfarm/home.action

I'm looking for a VPS solution with a lot of monthly bandwidth, so their unmetered option is very attractive. I will mostly be using the image/acidfree module, moving LOTS of JPG photos and rendering images (preview, thumbnail, etc) at different sizes in the background.

Thanks.

Hosting Advice

Hi,

I am just about to begin using drupal. My current Hosting company is very good and offer excellent support.
They have all the criteria required but apparently none of their current clients are using Drupal.

I noticed that there are recommended Hosting Companies, who specialize in Drupal Installation and
have some features pre-installed.

I do not wish to drop the current host after 4 years of excellent support, though can anyone offer
any suggestions based on their experience.

Many thanks,

Jeremy

Cheap + Reliable Hosting for New Drupal User

I'm a new Drupal user and am intrested in Cheap, but pretty reliable hosting. I would prefer a U.S. company if possible.

Thanks,

Who Host Me?

I need a new host, and the more I research hosts the more indecisive I become.

So based on what I have found on these forums and others I'm deciding against 1and1, dreamhost, siteground, and opensourcehost.

These are the options I am now considering:

modwest.com
bryght.com
bluehost.com
ICDsoft.com
mediatemple.net

Anyone used any of these?
