This is a forum for helping users host their Drupal site.

WebSiteSource

I have been attempting to install ProsePoint (uses Drupal core) and when unsuccessful; tried installing Drupal 6.6 core on my domain which is hosted with WebSiteSource. They are on your list as a hosting company that can run Drupal. After numerous attempts....install....uninstall...etc. and many white pages of death, they are telling me that in order to run Drupal I will probably have to upgrade from a shared server to a VPS, at 3 times the money. Though they have responded to my numerous questions, they haven't been entirely helpful in my quest to get this up and running.

Hostgator

I've been trying hostgator.com for about 2 months now. I'm in the "baby" package.

- The package said it included unilimited "add on" domains, but that turns out to mean me hosting my domain DNS records and email elsewhere and pointing the DNS record to their IP address. I'm currently on 1and1 where this level of DNS control is not possible. So it would cost me $15-$20 to transfer each domain to hostgator. I'm dealing with several domains, so that would cost a couple hundred dollars to transfer and I can't get information straight between several calls, but I think it would continue to cost $15-$20/domain annually.

Hosting on MS Windows

I have previously asked for opinions on which flavor of Linux is preferred, but I have another perspective. If the host that we're being pushed towards is a Microsoft-centric shop, is there any problem with running the site as Windows-Apache-MySQL-PHP?

Thoughts? Opinions?

Site5 - weird things happen with Drupal 6.6?

I have one Site5 account that drives me crazy.

I have Drupal 6.6 installed and 100 web sites using the core Drupal. All work fine until this week.

Upgraded to Drupal 6.6 this week and now things are weird.

I'm doing a simple test - click "Administer" then "Modules".

I have about 100 drupal modules installed that all work fine.

However, some of the sites will load the Modules page in 2 seconds and many time out after 60 seconds. Some of these sites are exactly the same - one loads in 2 seconds the other is stuck in some kind of loop.

which linux between RedHat and Suse?

Hello,

We have a client that uses a particular hosting service. They seem to be mostly Microsoft-based, but they list that they also support:

Red Hat Linux 7.0+, Red Hat Enterprise 2.1+, SuSe Enterprise Linux, Solaris 2.6+, HP-UX 11.0+

If they ask which OS we prefer, what do you recommend?

And yes, if the client will agree, I'll gladly move to a preferred Drupal/Linux specialist server host, but that may not be a choice.

So, if you HAD to pick from one of the above, what would it be?

Thanks,

devGuy

a2 hosting

I would like to host a drupal website for a client on some "green" host.
The client's site has about 400 visitors a day. So I think that I need some
reliable shared hosting to start with. max budget (for now) is 15$ / month

I have been started to look at a2hosting because they are environemnt friendly
(carbon free) and they have several plans in the need of upgrade.

Any good or bad opinions about them ?
