Now Supporting the Drupal Association

We're happy to announce that Cruiskeen Consulting LLC is now supporting the Drupal Association with every hosting plan. We're Drupal developers who run our own hosting company. With our own servers. Tuned to run Drupal. And now 5% of every purchase will go to the Drupal Association. Vist http://cruiskeenconsulting.com/drupal for more info.

Adding and setting up another Drupal website (subdomain) with hostmonster

I have recently joined the drupal community and am learning little things day by day. I inherited our church website a couple of months ago and everything is set up on our server (hostmonster) for the one site. We would like to add another drupal site as a subdomain. This site/files would be hosted by our original website, but have a totally different feel/look and information in it. We I am wondering how in the world to go about this.

My site didn't go live... barely shows content.

Hello,

I've been buidling my site on Network Solutions. When I was ready to go live with the site, I purchased a domain (trymollys.com), then I went to the site and there is no formatting. I've been going through so many posts to see if other people have had the same problem, and I haven't found any similar.

Also, the links don't work, I get a 500 internal server error. And there is a statement that says : FAIL (the browser should render some flash content, not this).

VPS vs Shared, should I go for VPS

Hi everyone

I run about a dozen sites using Drupal 6. I am using Hostgator shared hosting. I get around 70,000 visitors a month, and 300,000 page views. Until recently I have had good performance from Hostgator, and have been pleased with the package.

However, this week I am getting performance issues. They have suspended the main Drupal 6 index.php file as it was hogging server resources. I then installed the Boost module, which has helped speed up anonymous users greatly, and taken some load off the server. However there are times when performance is sow. I have always used Caching, normal setting.

I suggested to the Hostgator support staff than I get a VPS. They said unless I got one of their level 6 VPS packages my performance would be slower than shared hosting. They recommended a dedicated server.

I am tech savvy (am a developer/programmer) and am happy to use a VPS or dedicated server. However a dedicated server is a little too expensive right now.

I am expecting my traffic to double by the summer, and I want stable hosting in place before then.

What would you guys recommend? Should I go for a VPS? I understand that Hostgator are new to VPS, and would probably use one with another company.

Am I pushing the limits of shared hosting with my visitor numbers?

Automating Drupal core and/or contributed module updates

Speaking to companies who host Drupal websites, what sort of systems do you use for automatic updates of contributed modules and/or Drupal core? Other than the obvious steps of testing updates in a non-production environment and scripting the actual file updates, what best practices are there the perspective of a company hosting multiple (20+) Drupal websites for clients?

Thanks,
Cliff Smith
