I am looking into building a site that supports paid monthly subscriptions and media streaming. I am looking for dedicated servers and Im wondering if someone had any suggestions for hosters, I want one that is reliable and can handle scaling (at some point we envision 1000+ users on at one time, we dont need to start out that size but we do want a hoster that will have the facility to support that)
I would also like some recommendation on an operating system (Red hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc), So far ive only used Drupal on linux but am open to a windows server
i'm trying to get together an education site where users will be able to view videos and take exams. so this means i need to be able to stream video. at this point all i need is an account to experiment with. what's the lowest cost way to do this?
it seems to me that i'm going to have to go vps at the least for streaming?
i'm going with drupal 6. am i better off with windows or linux hosting?
I've uploaded my site to a server and suddenly my imagecache isn't working anymore.. I can upload images as much as i want, but the site doesn't resize or scale these images.
The images I've uploaded before the site went online (on my localhost) were all perfectly scaled with my imagecache presets (and still are). Only the images i've uploaded from the moment the site was online don't work.
I would appreciate any assistance or guidance for jointly developing a Drupal website on a localhost. Ideally, I'd like to have the developers be able to design the website on a localhost but be able to access it remotely. I do not want to have to pay for a hosting service just to get remote access as this will only be web development, it will not go live for the foreseeable future. I do not want to have the Drupal installation on any of the developer's local machines due to privacy and security reasons (accessing a local machine remotely isn't safe).
