Can I hide from "Translations" the current language in i18n?

I don't see the need to show users a link to "Englsh" when they are viewing the site in English. How can I hide the current visible language in the "Translations" block of Drupal 5 / i18n?

Creating bilingual/multilingual Primary Links: instructions

Last week on a different installation of i18n and Drupal 5.0, I followed the instructions here http://drupal.org/node/83514 to get the Primary Links to switch languages when the visitor switches the language of the website. It seems to have worked.

(At least, I think it worked. According to my own message at that thread, I claim it didn't work for me. But that is because I think I was looking at the menu from an Administer screen -- and not from a regular page. I have come to realize that you must always view the navigation blocks from a regular page. Otherwise, you will (always?) see *both* languages in the Primary Links navigation bar.)

However, through trial and error I think I have discovered another way to accomplish the same thing -- but without adding stuff to /sites/default/settings.php. If someone has already posted these, I'm sorry. I didn't see detailed instructions like this. Also, I'm posting them in case I've done something horribly wrong that will have unforseen (to me) effects on my Drupal website.

Here are my instructions for how to create bilingual Primary Links (in English and French):

1. From any English page, click Create content
2. Click Page (or Story, whatever)
3. In Title box, enter About
4. In Multilingual settings, make sure English is selected
5. Enter Body text (optional for the purposes of this demo)

i18n administer -> settings -> translations not working ....

Hi, i have drupal 4.7.5 installed, i am using the i18n module for translation, i upload the spanish idiom package and it translate the menu items an all other stuffs ok, but when i go to "administer -> settings -> translations" and click on the option "Teaser and Main page" on the "Links to node translations:" radio button for translating the nodes of the site, it doesn't appear the translate link on the node page ... what can i do? how can i translate the nodes on my site?

The correct modules

Wich are the correct .pot files to translate if I want to translate the user part only? I mean only the part that users view! The administrator's one doesn't matter!!!

own module i18n

Can I create own module for work with po-files. E.g. if add function _t() for translate, may be conflict with drupal i18n module?

Problems with the Create Content item list translations

I have imported a homebrew (Faroese) translation on two different Drupal 5.0 sites, and notice that content type names and descriptions are not translated on the 'node/add' page'. But the funny thing is, that they are not the same names and description that are missing (or not) on both sites.

  • Site 1 translates 'Book page', 'Forum topic' and 'Poll' but not 'Blog Entry', 'Story' and 'Page'
  • Site 2 translates 'Blog Entry' and 'Forum topic' but not 'Book page', 'Poll', 'Story' and 'Page'

The sites are brand new, and set up pretty much in the same way. Maybe I enabled the modules in different order, or waited with enabling some module until after importing the .po files. But all in all, they are very similar, and I imported the same .po files to both sites.

The missing translations did not show when I used the '/admin/settings/locale/string/search' page. I tried importing the .po files again, but that didn't help.

So my fast fix was to translate them again via the '/admin/content/types' page. But that broke the English localization: When I switch back to English, the content type names and descriptions that I translated manually are now shown in Faroese.

Also, now my Faroese strings show up as untranslated English strings when using the '/admin/settings/locale/string/search' page.
