Trouble adding a language in Drupal 6.2

After downloading the Chinese and Japanese D6 translation files, I decompressed them into the root Drupal directory so that the .po files go into the proper directories (modules, profiles, themes, etc.).

Then, when I go to add Chinese or Japanese via Administer->Site configuration->Languages, a red box pops up with the below output. It does this just as the progress bar starts to be displayed but the progress bar goes away after a split second and the error is displayed.

When I did this same sequence of steps on an account I have at a different webhost, the problem doesn't occur.

I've checked php.ini on both hosts and the settings match. The only difference is host (where it doesnt work) is running Apache 1.3, while host 2 (where it does work) is running Apache 2.0.

Does anyone have ideas what may be causing this?

Thanks

but its not present in 5.x-3.3 version sadly, does anyone know how to add translations of the site's name?

multilengua i18 en/en problem gallery2

hi,
i use drupal 5.7 and gallery2.1.4 and enabled the i18 module
and url rewrite.

running the gallery2 from drupal makes problems,
the /gallery link add user profile points to en/gallery
put clicking on special user galleries or trying to creat "your album"
runs into "page not found" error:

reason: the link is wrong:

..../en/en/v/privatealbum....

so instead of /en one time or /gallery/v/private

look at this as an example

Theming the language switcher block

I want the language switcher block that comes with the i18n module to look different.

I would like it to be a list and not include the pictures of flags.

Is there a way of theming it such as with a block-i18n.tpl.php file.

Thanks.

Richard.

(Some) Content type names are not translated

I have content types blog, forum, story, page and event. My site uses Swedish as default language.
All content type strings are translated when I search for the strings with "translate interface".
Blog and forum types translates well, both in "create content" menu + page and in the title of the create form pages.
But story, page and event are not translated. Only the description is translated, but not in the mouse over info.
The menu items I can edit to Swedish manually, but this will break translating back to English.
