I've been helping a new Drupal user setup his website via MSN Messenger, I've never worked with translations before and require someones help on a translation issue:
HE SAYS:
"I'm building my website on my home PC in Chinese and it works fine, but when I attempted to move the site to my online remote host it is only showing half the site in Chinese and the other half in English, so it has only half translated my site.
I try to install Drupal 6.13 in french. When i put the original documents (in english) I see the install page (in english). If I copy the french translation documents... blank page. I put the original documents back... everything works !
If i put just the profiles, I can instrall Drupal but the modules and themes are in english. If I copy the modules and themes after the installation, blank page again.
What's the problem ? I installed french version before!
Hi
(searched the forum for answers but didnt find any, alltough I am sure this question has been asked before)
I am trying to do a very simple, "by hand" translation for a version 6.13 site, basically I have gone in and translated the words that I need translated, directly in the code. I dont need admin side translated at all, only some basic front end stuff sen by the visitors.
(I used simple content types to explain my problem these are not the ones I need, I can't use a different structure or change the settings of these content types.)
Example : I have a Content Type 'Person' and a Content Type 'Country'.
Content Type 'Person' is language indepent.
Content Type 'Country' is language depent. (Dutch and French)
Content Type 'Person' has a relation with Content Type 'Country'. ( content type Country is a field of Person)
I am building a site with both Chinese and English, English is the default lanuage. I have troubles of using both Localiza and Per Language.
Localize terms:
1/I created a english content, then click on the Translate tab, and try to translate the Chinese version, but the taxonomy term remain in english.
2/ Sometime, I might get the Chinese term disappeared as I try to translate.
