Translations

Does i8n set cookie when you choose language? I would like to redirect user on next visit to the homepage in previously chosen language. Based on cookie (only for anonymous users).
I would like to setup let's say "splash" page with language switcher. User picks language and go to homepage in his language. Next time when user visit site, splash page is not displayed but redirected to homepage in language previously chosen.
How can this be achieved? Is there any module with this functionality or I have to write custom function to do this?

I have created a taxonomy vocabulary that is localized into 2 languages.
www.example.com => shows english
www.example.com/ja => shows japanese

I have begun building a site using Drupal, as I was fascinated by it`s potential.

Anyways, these days I got more and more frustrated because Drupal doesn`t work to translate the interface.

1) What I want?
All the site visitors should see ONLY ROMANIAN language (including interface, menus, the messages they get when they register and so on). want to keep the interface in ENGLISH JUST FOR ME.

I'm creating a multi-lingual site that allows members of the community to create translations of the pages. I'd like these translated pages to take on the same path as the original page. For example, if a user translates our /support page to Spanish, I'd like the translation to be automatically assigned the same path as the original, /support. The only difference should be that the language of the URL alias should be set to Spanish.

I am working with a multilingual site in english as difault, swedish and persian. I want tath when you write an article in swedish it publish in the mysite.com/sv and not in the other. I want to be able to select language in the editor. Please help me. Ps. I am new in drupal and want a step by step explenations please.
