I just want to share this as an encouragement to the many who are struggling to get drupal up.
I am not an IT geek and the web world is certainly not my forte, having spent most of years in banks. Thus when i decided to do something about my idea on a non-profit organization, i looked around for an appropriate software. In bewilderment.
Tried Wordpress, Movable Type, B2evolution, Expression Engine, Textpattern, Drupal, Joomla, Plone. By 'tried' i meant i downloaded it, and play around with it to the best of my ability. Except for Plone which i cannot seem to install it.
And my ability at that time was not much. My hosting provider gave me access to the space rented from them. I stared at the open space. Read through all the documentation. And wondered what on earth is MySQL, ftp and chmod. Through a process of trial and error, i managed to learn and read through many books on php, css, html in addition to the hosting manual and the manuals of the above softwares. It is all too much as what i wanted is to 'click and play'. The simplest to install is Wordpress but i was looking for something more than a blog.
Thus i just want to say i understand the frustrations of newbies who are trying to setup their websites.
