Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

Setting Changes not Sticking

I almost have Drupal 4.7 up and running. My problem is that some settings don't stick. When I try to change the default main page from "node/225" to "node", nothing changes. I go to the main page, and it is still displaying node/225. What might be wrong?

Inserting Gallery2 images inline

Hello.

I am running Drupal 4.6.x with Gallery2 recently installed, and finally running and integrated, using gallery.module etc.

Until now, I have used image.upload, image.module and image_assist to manage visual content. The text is added using Filtered HTML, which I wouldn't like to change.

Making a complex home page

I'd like my home page to be a bit more complex than the default one, and provide functionality similar to the home page here at drupal.org: first there will be some introduction text describing the site, and then normal content items promoted to the home page.

How can it be done? Is there a module for that? Or an option? Or I have to edit the template? Or something entirely else?

Thanks in advance,
Tomi

secure images

I am trying to set up my drupal instance to handle 2 types of information, sensitive and public. I have found there is great power in the taxonomy access controls (thank you for that module), but have run into an issue when it comes to images. If I upload the image using the image content type, I can access it directly with the url (insecure). If I create an image field on my (thanks for flexinode too) own content type, it appears to be loaded only directly into the DB (secure), but they are not available by someone with the correct permissions to be accessed from another page.

help can't access content!! blank page!

I have had my drupal site up and running for a while now but all of the sudden I can access almost no content. I use multiple browsers to test using users with different roles. All of a sudden when I try to access my front page as annonymous user I get access denied! And half of my menu item are missing from a custom menu I created as well as the main menu with the login so I can't log in as another user. I am only able to access my content as the admin user which I am afraid to log off as in my main testing browser.

Creating a New Page/Form for adding entries to a Database per user.

I am creating a community service center for my school. It should allow students to log into the site and then add hours to their account that will be "pending." Then the teacher will login and check their classes and if the entry is legit the students will be credited with the hours. Now I know how to layout my database and I coded most of this on my own. Now I have found drupal and want to integrate this into drupal so I don't have to worry about the layout and graphic design of it (since thats not really my expertise).
