Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

URL issue

I have installed drupal and it works. I installed drupal into http://www.mydomain.com/drupal

How do I get drupal to run when entering the url http://www.mydomain.com
just like http://drupal.org/

In the near future I would like to have other multi-site ie. http://www.mydomain.com/sub

Welcome headers Block. Is this possible ?

OK my idea is simple. Now that i've added a new region to my site via the template system i thought it would be neat to create a block that is viewable on everypage to members that have yet to provide any content. On vbulletin they call this welcome headers and it works extremely well in getting lurker members to be active members. Once they post something the messge goes away.

it works something like this :-

Member isn't signed up and is browsing the web not as a member. A block would be seen saying :-

We see you are currently not a member of XXXXX site. Why not join up and help shape the community. Membership is free, fast and easy. Just follow XYZ link

Member signs up and see's a site wide block saying something like :

Welcome to XXXXX site. We see you have not submitted any content yet. We encourage our members to participate in our forums, or create a new blog post. Why not introduce yourself in the XYZ forum.

The previous block is now not viewable.

After a member posts content to whatever you deemed more productive, say forum post or new blog the messages go away.

If the member doesn't then post for a set length of time a new block appears on the lines of :-

We see you haven't posted to our forums or your blog for sometime. Maybe its a good time to help someone out or participate in some of our many discussions

It really works and is used to great effect on many of my vbulletin sites so i would like to mimic its usuage here if at all possible.

login box

HOW on earth do i resize the login box? im so new to this whole drupal thing.
HELP please..soon...tell me theres a way..preferrably in html or something.

header problem

I move my drupal to another server.
everything seems to go fine.
Execpt when i try to log in: when i do so, after clicking on the button "ENTER", i receive a blank page.
i went to see the code, in user.module, and i found that it stops when the function "drupal_goto" is called in "user_login".
i went to see the watchdog in the sql db, and i saw:

"administer site" links gone +many errors..?

My site is working properly and after finding out how to edit the "language" to change the text, i changed some of the menu around too (in the admin>menus) but after i hit save i go back to the "Administer Site" link on the side menu bar and all of the links are gone and i get these errors:

warning: ksort() expects parameter 1 to be array, null given in /hsphere/local/home/josie/slidehouse.com/modules/zadministration/civicspace.inc on line 326.

warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /hsphere/local/home/josie/slidehouse.com/modules/zadministration/civicspace.inc on line 327.

im so lost now. i can still edit the files if i go through the Administer link but how can i fix the admin site link? any help would be GREATLY appricated!!

Custom content types in 4.7?

I have two active Drupal sites, one stable 4.6 and one 4.7 that is getting there. I cannot remember how I got custom content types enabled in 4.6, as I would like to be able to create them in my 4.7 environment. What am I missing?
