Upgrading Drupal

Been working with Drupal for a couple months now on a development test site and it is amazing to say the least!

I've searched but can't find an answer to my problem:
After updating several modules the other day, CCK last, all seemed to go well, except my views were all deleted.

Did I do something wrong or out of order?
Is the a way to prevent this?

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated!

I have upgraded to 6.17 from 6.16 without any problem. Some days later I have found that a number of the menu items under the administration menu is missing for the admin, including user and module administration. If I enter the URL for these admin pages, they don't come up. How can I get these admin pages back?

The actual site is being upgraded to a newer version. In the meantime, I had to create some more content and modify the menu of this actual site. So basicallly, the new changes will not appear on the upgraded site unless there's a way to copy this new content. Do I need to duplicate a node and a block in that case? And how do I do that?
Otherwise, I will have to create again what I have done.

On the Drupal site we are developing we would like to implement outgoing email/text notifications to users on new incoming product matches to their saved searches. Does anyone know if Drupal has this capability? If yes, what modules/add ins do I need?

On my new site that I´ve just moved to the web I got some problems. On top of the sights an error message occurs as following:

* warning: fopen(): SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid/gid is 216897/216897 is not allowed to access /tmp/fileRKowCb owned by uid/gid 398/398 in /hsphere/local/home/keinen/mysite.se/includes/file.inc on line 788.
* warning: fopen(/tmp/fileRKowCb): failed to open stream: Success in /hsphere/local/home/keinen/mysite.se/includes/file.inc on line 788.
* The file could not be created.

Can anybody please tell me what the other modules are available that can be
easily integrated with Advance Forum..?
Please provide me list of modules or link whatever is available.
