Mail List Serve

Is there any Drupal Alternative/Solution to mail list serve?

on the subject of profit from Drupal

I am not sure if this is the right part of the forum to put it but, are we allowed to make profit from our ads using Drupal CMS? and does the same go with the modules as well?

Multiple Domains, Permissions and a comparison with Joomla

I'm a Joomla developer, but I'm looking for some functionality that Joomla doesn't currently offer (certainly not in any great depth). Drupal seem svery much geared towards my end product but I need to check a few things before I start digging around:

I'm looking to create an overseas property website. To that extent, I'd like to create a flexible structure of Countries > Regions > Further Regions. It seems that Drupal is geared towards this and is sometime referred to as a Taxonomy. 1) Is this correct?

I'm looking to be able to deploy multiple sites on one codebase (to ensure my codebase is up to date). Joomla doesn't support this and the only way to get around this is by cloning sites and then altering the database connections. I wish to be able to deploy 'white label' sites of my main site which can them be deployed to multiple domains, and have different permissions for each domain. For instance one 'white label' site might have only Spanish properties and be adminsterable by only Spanish agents. 2) Is this possible and if so, in what way?

I want to be able to consume XML feeds from other property websites and merge them with my existing properties (probably using XML-RPC). 3) Is this something that Drupal can handle/has support for?

taxonomy is only two level deep in drupal 6?

I am frustrated trying to use the taxonomy module on drupal 6. It appears there is no way to create a taxonomy more than 2 level deep. Is there something I'm missing?

Dynamically Linking to Sources at End of Story (Joomla v. Drupal)

I'm trying to decide between using Joomla and Drupal for a particular project, and there's one major issue where I could use some help. Most of the site consists of stories with a half page of text explaining a particular topic. At the bottom of these stories I'd like to dynamically list other references that have been tagged with the same category as the story:
* links to other organizations' websites, including a brief description of the organization
* reports on other sites, including a brief summary of the report
* stories on my site

ZENCART or Drupal? Or integration?

hi, i need a workable solution for my e-commerce site (www.prankster101.com/rsto) where the emphasis is on commerce and content and to create a community.

and i just found this:
http://drupal.org/node/99428
and this:
http://drupal.org/node/199279

it talks about the need for using drupal as a cms/e-commerce solution. it also talks about the need for community.

after a little bit of soul searching, and as stated by someone in the threads, here are my options that i was considering:
A. Keep ZenCart
B. Keep ZenCart and add Drupal
C. Start from scatch with Drupal + e-Commerce/UberCart

apparently, there is a zencart/drupal integration module. i am intrigued by this.
what i want are the following:
store: videogames, music, dvd etc but i also want a record label, fashion label
digital downloads
forum/portal/community
authorised users
cms/online magazine/blog
user generated content

i have an icarus line fansite project that i would like to "integrate"/make part of rather than have as a separate site (more details below). but depending on costs etc, i might just do this diy.
