Direction Needed: Drupal modules & Drupal version

I've been following the Drupal development & lurking the forums for some time now. The whole concept of Drupal is very intriguing and something I'm hoping to get more involved with for personal projects and for client projects. I've been a developer/analyst/consultant (whatever you want to call it) for just over ten years now though I've never had the opportunity to work with PHP. I am, however, fairly involved with CMS / portal systems in general.

I've recently come across a project that I would like to try and use Drupal for. I'm looking for some input to understand if Drupal can handle this project. And if so, then what modules would I have to research further. Ideally I'd like to use Drupal 6x, but once I know what modules I'll need I can then evaluate what version of Drupal to use for my time-frame.

Anyway... onto the project details.

Making Restricted Areas on Forum Module - Drupal 6.x

Hi there.

I've recently got Drupal working and I am very pleased with it.

However, regarding the forums, I would like both public areas, and a restricted access only for members with correct privilages, which at the moment, I cannot do, or at least work out how to do it.

I've seen many forum posts like this on this site, and I've seen things like 'TAC Lite' which apparently can do this. However, this only appears to work for previous versions of Drupal.

Thanks in advance!

Can Drupal do a Real Estate Agent's listings site?

I've done a small HTML web site for a local real estate agent - www.mobilehomesgreatervictoria.com and he now wishes that he could add and delete listings, with pictures and slide show for each listing, himself. He does not have any computer or web knowledge beyond email, web browsing and word processing. Is Drupal appropriate for this purpose? Please advise, and if not, perhaps suggest other open source software for this purpose.

can you make drupal-based application a SaaS or ASP?

I have an application running through drupal as it's base. I want to make it a true Software As A Service (or ASP).

What I have in mind is for any client, that client could see and control only his data and no one else's data.

I imagine it can be done using roles or user management.

Any ideas and much appreciated!

Gaming CMS Website

Hello

Right now I have a Wordpress site, were I post the newest stuff about games, but it's not designed for it.
I tried Drupal back when it was still in development, and I see that it has grown to a big scale. I was wondering if Drupal have some kind of module (?), who can give me the same functions as igamingcms, but better working and maybe a few more functions, like auto-gen of thumbnails, screenshots for both folder reading, and direct upload.

The problem with iGamingCMS is that it seams that people left it, like with many other gaming cms systems.
