Before you start

I'm new to the drupal cms and want to use it for a school community. I installed it on a dummie server and playied with it until I brokedted the drupal. But I guess thats what happens when you try something new.

My problem was not in the installtion but what to install. So many modlues to choose from and no Idea on what the module actually does. It gives a description that sometimes kind of confusing or gives me an understanding of what it can do but ultimately does not.

Reading for me is not desireable. I rather perfer a video tutorial than reading for a while and not understaning the message. Now I am not asking for a video on how to set up anything I'm just saying that I am good at reading/following instructions but faster in seeing someone do it and then me coping and doing what I see.

Is there a module that will allow users to add information to content I created.

For example: Lets say I have a site that provides upcoming events around my area and I want it to where users can also add the events they know about in my area.

Is there a module that can do this?

I'm not sure if this has ever been done, but my client is insisting that it is very common that lots of sites are selling their advertisement on the site (where the banners etc. are to be placed) using credit card payment and such. So that hardly any "manual" work will be necessary.

To me this sound stupid since an advertiser definetely would like to know user statistics and such before advertising on the site.

Anyway: Is he right or wrong? Is there such a module (perhaps combined) for drupal?

I’m currently researching different CMS options for a customer’s website, and I have a quick question regarding the event module for Drupal.

Can it manage/display events in a similar way Trumba does?

If not, is there any module compatible with Drupal 6 that can do it?

I currently have a website that uses Trumba (www.gotogreenla.com) and I’d like a similar functionality on this customer’s site.

Is it possible?

I'm new to drupal and I can't change themes on my new site. I get the following error:

warning: file_get_contents(http://site.com/?q=themes/bluemarine/style.css) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found in /home1/site/public_html/modules/style_settings/style_settings.module on line 31.

Am I missing something or did I forget to set some basic configuration?
